Mount Wanda in the United States. Mount Wanda is located in the county of Contra Costa County and the state of California, in the western part of the nation, 3.900 km west of Washington , DC, 196 meters above sea level, on Mount Wanda.

 

The land around Mount Wanda is very hilly in the southwest, but flat in the northeast. The highest point in the region is 286 meters high and 1.5 km west of Mount Wanda. Around Mount Wanda, which is very densely populated, there are around 2,431 people per square kilometer. Concord, 9.3 km east of Mount Wanda, is the nearest large town. The area around Mount Wanda is almost entirely populated with homes. In the area surrounding Mount Wanda, bays, valleys and straits are exceptionally popular.

 

Mount Wanda and the adjacent homestead belonged to John Muir, and the naturalist and his family lived here from 1890 until Muir died in 1914. The two properties, on the southern edge of Martinez, are now managed by the National Park Service. One hundred years ago, this was a remote area with good access to Muir 's trips to Yosemite. It's an oasis in the morass of urban sprawl. His house is on the north side of CA 4, and Mount Wanda (named after one of his daughters) is on the south side. From the top of Mount Wanda, there are sweeping views of Mount Diablo and the rolling hills of Northern Contra Costa County, as well as unobstructed Buttercups along the industrial Martinez trails and some big new homes on the surrounding hills.

 

As John Muir explored the terrain around his home in Martinez, he also took Wanda and Helen's daughters with him. About one of their Contra Costa strolls, he wrote: "Another lovely day, mainly sunshine. The beautiful land, named after his daughter, is now a national treasure. It's a beautiful land, named after his daughter.

 

The 325-acre farm, once part of Muir's land holdings, was not included in the U.S. The National Park Service created the National Historic Site of John Muir in 1964. The NPS had agreed to buy land from local rancher Gordon Strain in 1991, but the agreement was on the verge of failure. JMLT has stepped in to save the property by pledging the funds necessary to complete the purchase.

 

Now, on Mount Wanda, you can take your own "fine fragrant stroll." Intend to take a full moon stroll, a seasonal wildflower stroll, or a bird walk, each hosted by the National Park Service. Hike, bike, ride a horse or take a dog for a walk through the oak woods and grassy hills, dotted with native wildflowers such as California buttercup, shooting stars, forest stars, lupines and fiddlenecks.

 

Take the trail of Mount Wanda and see the views of the Carquinez Strait and the surrounding hills. Coast live oak, blue oak and valley oak line the trail as it ascends to the top. While at the peak of the hill, Mount Diablo and the surrounding hills become visible. The more incremental John Muir Nature Trail offers views of Mount Diablo, Carquinez Strait and Briones Park. On a clear day, you could even see cows grazing in the sunlight across the valley.
